What is the role of nurse in midwifery?

Midwife, often known as midwives, are experts in proper pregnancy and birth. They are responsible for caring for pregnant women and their babies during antenatal care, labour and delivery, and for up to 28 days after the baby is delivered. During a normal pregnancy and labour, they provide all essential professional care and services. A licenced nurse-midwife provides holistic care to women at all phases of life, in addition to supporting women during childbirth . They provide physical exams, diagnose and treat medical issues, and in some cases, write prescriptions. Nurse-midwives also consult and advise expectant mothers.
